Toyota Hilux 3.0 D4D Invincible Automatic 2013.02
Ready to go overlanding. The truck has only had one real overlanding trip, to Morocco sand dunes and Atlas mountains – a great trip otherwise, it’s been on tarmac for several trips to Europe and the islands, including the north coast 500. Being automatic, it’s a real long-distance cruiser and a pleasure to drive. It has cruise control, a constant rear view camera, and an ARB recovery point. It also has selectable low ratio 4x4 for when needed. I have owned the vehicle since 2016 and spent many hours tweaking it for our uses; it was my daily driver, but due to having other vehicles and Covid, the truck has only done 11,000 miles in the last three years. The reason for selling is that we are getting on and climbing up and down ladders is a bind, so a year ago we bought a camper van, but I couldn’t bring myself to sell the truck, so hence the low mileage. Now it needs to move on and give someone else enjoyment.
It has full main dealer servicing up to 70,000 miles then my local garage. The timing belt has been changed, the aircon has been pressurised, the brakes were changed a year ago, and two new 12V batteries have been installed. The vehicle has a dual charging system (alternator charge while driving and 90W solar when standing still). The solar panel can lie flat or be angled left or right depending on where the sun is. The full five-piece Rival under armour, an ARB front recovery point, and an AFN rear bumper with a jerry can and spare wheel carrier, plus a tow bar and recovery point are included. The original spare is still underneath the back.
The roof rack and rear canopy have been strengthened and a shelf put in so the chairs are easily accessible and the table fits in next to the recovery tracks on the roof. The kitchen is inside the flap, so it’s easy to get at. There’s 50 liters of water and a two-draw system. On top, there’s a homemade fridge slide – if you pick a low-top one such as an ARB 60-liter fridge, it will slide in and out behind you while cooking on the extendable rear table. Otherwise, you would need to remove the shelf. These are all personal little adjustments.
I keep 50 liters of fuel inside the canopy right next to the fuel cap, and when needed, I use a syphon tube, so no need to hold a heavy jerry can while filling the truck – this has worked well on two occasions when I misjudged the next fuel station. Any questions, just give me a call.
Points to note: The number plate does not go with the truck, nor does the roof top tent. The original number will be back on it. If you don’t have a roof top tent, we can discuss the sale of our James Baroud tent separately; it is of great quality and has very good all-round viewing.
