This is a 2003 Unimog U500 North American spec unit. It was one of two that were converted to 6x6 by Unimog North America with engineering provided by Mercedes in Germany.
The rear axle is hydraulically driven and has a differential lock. The rear axle remains disconnected until activated with a switch on the dash. It is intended for use at low speeds.
We could also easily convert this back to a 4x4 with a wheelbase between 132" and 181".
This Unimog was recently refurbished inside and out. It has also undergone an extensive inspection and complete service. The paint is Mercedes Blue Grey. It will have 6 new tires installed before delivery.
The top-speed of this Unimog is 70 mph. It has an 8-speed electro pneumatically shifted manual transmission with the working-gear reduction as well. It has the factory in-dash air conditioner as well as an auxiliary air conditioner behind the driver's seat.
