This is the text you need to work on: For sale here is an expedition vehicle based on a Mercedes 1017A. The vehicle is in perfect technical condition and can set off on its next long-distance journey at any time. Incidentally, the vehicle has impressively demonstrated its unrestricted suitability for traveling. The vehicle has been to Lake Baikal twice, twice in Mongolia, twice over the Pamir (including overnight stays above 4000 m), once in South America, has been to various deserts (including the Gobi and Lut), has been snowed in for long periods and has traveled 42,000 km with us without any real problems. All the little things that came up on our trip could be dealt with at any time by the local mechanics, as the technology is so simple (no electrics on the truck) and robust (also tolerates low-quality diesel, e.g. refueling from sea containers in Mongolia) that solutions are no problem despite communication difficulties. However, we really only had minor issues (welding the exhaust, fixing the alternator once and the accelerator pedal had to be rebuilt). The conversion is really very cleverly thought out and very robustly built. We drove 100s of kilometers on corrugated iron and nothing fell apart and we didn't have to tighten any screws.
The existing door in the sleeping area provides sufficient privacy and turns the vehicle into a 3-room apartment (driving area as a "conservatory", living area, sleeping area). The feel-good factor in the living area on cold days has also been taken into consideration. There is underfloor heating in the living area. All the seats you lean against are heated. Even the bed has mattress heating and heating at the feet.
The cabin is mounted on the chassis using 3-point bearings. The storage is so good that it was no problem to forget a pot on the stove from time to time, it was still there at the next stop.
After our return, the vehicle was given an H registration. In this context, the living area was removed. This involved loosening 5 screws and disconnecting around 10 cables. On this occasion, the chassis was extensively repainted. The old top coat, which had flaked off in some places during the journey, was sanded off by hand, the existing rust spots were treated with Ovotrol oil and then a new coat of paint was applied. The base coat is still the original Bundeswehr paint, which was simply roughened. Three coats of "Brantho Korrux 3 in1" in three different colors were applied to ensure coverage. The exhaust is now made of stainless steel and the cabin has new bearings.
