About
This is a 1990 TAM 150 T11 6x6, manufactured in Maribor for the Slovenian army. It has only 17,000 original kilometers and has been well maintained throughout its life. The truck was occasionally used by the Slovenian army until 2020 and was regularly maintained, serving as a mobile command headquarters for military officers.
- I have the paperwork on my name, and the military-to-civil vehicle homologation has been completed. The truck is categorized as N2 (trucks with a maximum allowed mass greater than 3.5 tons but less than 12 tons).
- The actual vehicle weight (truck weight + driver + full tank of fuel) from the papers is 7700 kg.
- Maximum permissible mass (maximum weight of fully loaded truck) from the papers is 9650 kg.
It features a rare, removable military container that’s prepped for camping/living, with the following dimensions: 430 x 220 x 195 cm. The container has its own sub-chassis that remains stable when the truck is driven off-road, a pre-wired electrical system with a 220V-24V transformer, 220V outlets, lights, a battery box with a 24V battery charger, and a Webasto heating system with its own diesel tank and 4 extendable legs. The container is attached to the chassis with 4 quick release nuts.
The truck is a proper 6x6 off-road machine, mechanically over-engineered and built to last. It has a Deutz air-cooled V6 engine – engine code F6L413F (I believe the same engine basis was also used in earlier versions of MAN KAT) with 150 HP (detuned for military purposes). The same engine was used in TAM civil trucks with 190 HP power output and is considered indestructible; engine power can be safely increased to 210-230 HP with a Bosch pump.
The truck has a 6x6 drivetrain with switchable drive on the front axle, differential locks on all axles, a 5-speed manual gearbox with a gear reducer, and a self-inflating/deflating tire system (pressure adjustable from 0.5 bar to 3.5 bar). It has 20-inch wheels + 12.5 R 20 Continental tires. There’s a 15-ton engine-driven winch with 80m of steel cable, controllable with a gas pedal and gearbox, claimed to be capable of lifting the whole truck. It also includes factory power steering and a synchronized gearbox.
The truck can go through 1 meter deep water and climb 1 meter high vertical obstacles (factory specs). The cab has its own Webasto heater and a "sunroof" latch.
The truck is in overall amazing original condition for its age. Mechanically well-sorted, the engine runs like new. The chassis is rust-free, the living container is rust-free (made completely out of aluminum), and the cab has some rust along the front fenders (as pictures). The tires have a lot of tread left, but I'd recommend replacing them before any serious road trips. The truck is fitted with two new 143 Ah VARTA heavy duty batteries.
Spare parts are still available new because the same mechanical parts are used in standard versions of non-military TAM trucks which are still commonly used today in ex-Yugoslavian countries. These trucks are also relatively cheap to maintain.
The truck is located 15 km out of Maribor in Slovenia. I can help get export plates (max duration 30 days) or help you get a good price on transporting this truck to your address (if you are located in the EU).
